Here
is a look behind the magic at Garner Holt Productions, "how
we do it," from concept to finished creation.

President Garner Holt and GHP staff interact and discuss proposed
project with their clients.
The
results of GHP staff and client discussion and brainstorming
are translated to graphic storyboards.
Individual
figures of the project are sculpted into maquettes and models
for proportioning and final approval.
Characters
are sculpted in wax plastilina and foam. Figures of all sizes,
human and dinosaur, have been produced. GHP's talented sculptors
have created miniature characters as well as characters and
props over 50 feet tall.
The
project moves to the engineering and design room where it is
designed, reviewed, scheduled and assigned to the design department. |
In
the engineering department, creative concepts are transformed
into engineered plans and prints with the use of the latest
in CAD systems.
The
electronics department is then brought in to begin the design
and creation of the computerized animatronic electronics. |
Fabricating
the mechanical Animatronics of a figure is as much an art
as it is a science.
In
the figure finishing department, animals and birds are furred
and feathered by the hands of skilled artisans. Figure finishing
of the project is detailed and painstaking to ensure absolute
realism and authenticity. |
The
wardrobe department produces costumes for several hundred
animatronic characters each year. Historical, ethnic and fantasy,
the costumers have clothed everything from songbirds and giant
apes to kings and queens.

The
finished product - a believable, lifelike figure! |
